About

Viran is your bid team for government contracts

Public contracts build the hospitals, schools and railways a society inherits. We combine AI and experts, so the best suppliers win them, not the ones with the most patience for paperwork.

Viran takes the mechanical work out of public tendering, on both sides of the table: the buyers who publish the calls, and the suppliers who answer them. We cover more than 70 markets, from national and EU procurement through to multilateral institutions like NATO and the World Bank.

Public procurement directs about €2 trillion of public spending across the EU each year, and far more across the wider world. The stakes are immense, yet most of the work is mechanical: hundreds of pages to read, annexes to cross-check, scoring tables to verify, deadlines that cannot move. On both sides of the table, the people closest to the decisions spend their time on work that should never have been manual.

Iivo Angerpuro, Co-Founder of Viran.
Public procurement decides where an enormous share of public money goes, and most of the work around it is still mechanical. We built Viran so the mechanical part disappears and the judgment part gets the time it deserves.
Iivo Angerpuro, Co-Founder of Viran

Done well, public procurement is one of the most consequential ways a society directs its capital: the hospitals, schools, and infrastructure the next generation inherits. But it only works when both sides can act in good faith, buyers who see clearly what they are buying, and suppliers who compete on the quality of their work rather than their tolerance for paperwork.

We believe the next decade is one where the mechanical work disappears and judgment gets the time it deserves: buyers shape outcomes instead of policing forms, and the best suppliers win on what they actually do. Government and business stop meeting as adversaries and start building the trust that good public services are made of.

Viran is derived from the Finnish word viranomainen, public authority.

Viran was founded to make public money buy better

When the right supplier wins a contract, the service behind it works better for the people who depend on it.
